When Women Vote-Women Win!

As 53% of the national electorate, women have the power to determine the future of this country, but only if we vote. Your vote is your voice. Use it. One vote can make the difference. Your vote can influence decisions at the local, state, and national level. If you don’t vote, it’s just like voting for the winner.

Women Count is a national non-partisan media campaign and educational program that challenges every woman to exercise her right to vote, to participate in the political process, and to engage in the civic life of her community. We are a fiscally sponsored project of The Women's Foundation, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status organization. Tax I.D. #94-275-2421.

Women Count was co-founded in 1998 by philanthropist Susie Tompkins Buell and a group of concerned Bay Area friends in response to negative media reports predicting female apathy at the polls. Our full-page newspaper ads that ran in top-ranked newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times caused quite a stir among the general public and the media. We were overwhelmed by requests from newspapers, radio and television stations. Never before had a non-partisan group attempted to use the media in this way to encourage voter participation. www.womencount.org
